Rosenthal quotes Ross Tucker in order to demonstrate that NFL passing yards are quickly becoming one of the most overrated statistics in the NFL. Rosenthal goes on to point out that there have already been 33 300-yard passing games this season (an NFL record).
Depending upon your perspective, you may not like the new pass-happy NFL. While I think the plethora of passing offenses is fun, I do miss the days of dominating rushing attacks and strong defenses. Additionally, the rules on safety that the NFL and Roger Goodell have recently implemented and/or begun to enforce more rigorously are well-intentioned, but have already caused many once-great hits to be penalized. Not sure what my point is here...I guess I am just venting.
